The presentation is a primer on what a designer and new entrant into the fashion and textile world needs to know when sourcing fabrics.
Before you walk a tradeshow floor or make a call to a supplier – know what to ask. You are much more likely to engage the supplier in your search if you can speak their language. Have you wanted to have a better understanding of the differences in selecting a woven fabric versus a knit fabric for your designs? Or if there’s a big deal over selecting a polyester fabric over cotton fiber content? Then this seminar is for you!
If a group setting is not for you, individual consulting is available. With extensive experience in the industry I am dedicated to helping you learn the basics of textiles before your next trade show or as you begin your entry into the world of fabric and fashion.
Looking forward to sharing with you! Contact for rates.
Invest in your future. We offer customized training to help you advance your career and reach your full potential.
We cover the basic differences in fibers and the benefits of one type over another. Is natural always better than manmade? A cram course in fibers, yarns, fabric constructions, different finishes and how sustainable practices are becoming the norm in fabric formation and finishing.
After this session you will be armed with the knowledge to make a more informed selection when you’re sourcing fabrics/trims for your end-use. You can now approach suppliers with confidence asking the right questions using industry language!
The Sourcer's Guide is a great resource to source your suppliers. Available from the About Sources website and at The Fabric Shows.
The “Basic Textiles, from Fiber to Fabric” Seminar is often presented during the Seminar Series at The Fabric Shows. This small-lot fabric show is the result of The Sourcers Guide, an industry leading guide to sourcing fabric, trim, finishers and services in the Americas, published by AboutSources, Susan Power.
If you have questions about the right fabric for your garment end-use, or simply want to understand fabric constructions better, please contact me to book an appointment.
